Tuesday April 29 Day 30.
I am counting the days starting from the day that we left the Gold Coast.
Today we stayed in Mareeba and visited the Jaques coffee plantation, I took the tour while E stayed in the van. This plantation was the pioneer grower in Australia after migrating from Tanzania in 1970 and it was a very interesting experience seeing what they have achieved after some pretty serious setbacks. Then we travelled a little further out of town (Jaques is 10km from town) and visited an ice cream place had the best ever milkshake then got some ice cream which we have had for desert!
This place that we are staying at is great and we have kangaroos onsite in the morning. We also have another Western Australian here, haven't met them yet.
The dynamics of caravan parks is quite intriguing which I will discourse on at a later stage.
I have a few photos from the early part of the trip which I will share with you all. I still haven't worked out how to get more photos on my iPad so that may have to wait until we get to Darwin the show you up to date photos.

Ok here are the first photos, I will work on more but this shows you what our motorhome (henceforth known as the van) looks like.

Sunday 27 April 2014

Here we are!

OK enough of our friends do not do Facebook that we decided to do a blog, hopefully this will work as it has been a fair bit of effort.
Last night we stayed at the Rifle Creek rest area, along with 7 other campers, including 2 from WA. This is quite a nice little spot next to, can you guess? Rifle Creek. Then this morning had a short drive to Mareeba where we intend to stay for a couple of days to see all the sights. The park we are in is huge but basic, although it does have ablutions, undercover meals area without BBQ, power & water at each site.
I will try to put our Facebook posts here so that everyone can catch up with our travels.
I will add photos when I figure out how to do it!
